When I got my copies of the new Chicken Soup for the Soul book in last week, I was pretty excited. It’s not the first short story I’ve had published, but it’s still exciting to see your work in print.<\/p>\n
\u201cCheck it out,\u201d I said, showing the kids. \u201cI\u2019ve got a story in it!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHow many pages in it?\u201d my oldest asked.<\/p>\n
\u201cUm,\u201d I said flipping pages to see. \u201cJust a few, I think.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNo,\u201d he said. \u201dI mean in the whole book. How many pages in the whole book?\u201d<\/p>\n
I looked at the last page. \u201cThree hundred eighty eight. Why?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWow! And you wrote them all?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo. I just did one story. Look here it is.\u201d I held out the book.<\/p>\n
He didn’t even glance at it. \u201cOh,\u201d he said, patting my hand. \u201cThat\u2019s still very good. Good job, Daddy. Good job.\u201d<\/p>\n
Then he went back to working on his homework.<\/p>\n
