Now, however, I have to leave earlier than my wife, which means she sometimes ends up on morning kid duty.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, as I took the dogs out for their morning constitutional, I noticed a showdown between our four-year old and my wife. He didn&#8217;t want to go to the bathroom, didn&#8217;t want to get dressed, didn&#8217;t want to go to school. She, on the other hand, wanted him do all those things &#8211; and quickly too. The battle, apparently, had been going on for about ten minutes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Okay,&#8221; she shouted from the kitchen. &#8220;I&#8217;m pouring the milk on your cereal. If you don&#8217;t hurry up it&#8217;s going to get soggy!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Five minutes later, as I brought the dogs back in, the little guy walked past me to his seat at the table. &#8220;Mmm,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I like it soggy.&#8221; He smiled at me. &#8220;Softer is better!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Score one for the four year old.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prior to me biking our kindergartner into school, my morning duties included getting the kids dressed and getting them breakfast.
