As some of you may know Lent just started. When the boys came back from Sunday school last weekend, we asked them about it.<\/p>\n
“I know!” my oldest said. “I know the story of Lent!”<\/p>\n
“The story of Lent?”<\/p>\n
To be honest, I don’t know the “story of Lent.” I mean, I know what Lent is and why it is, but it’s not exactly a story. “Really?” I asked. “What’s the story of Lent?”<\/p>\n
“Well,” he said. “My teacher, actually she’s a substitute not the real teacher. Cause the real teacher wasn’t there. Instead it was a substitute.”<\/p>\n
“Okay,” I nodded.<\/p>\n
“She said that Lent lasts days starting with four and one boy said fourteen and another said four and I said forty.”<\/p>\n
We looked at each other for a moment before I realized he was finished. “That’s the story of Lent?”<\/p>\n
He nodded. “Yep. That’s it!”<\/p>\n
“The story is that your substitute teacher said Lent lasts a number of days starting with four and you said forty?”<\/p>\n
“Yep. Oh, and it ends at Easter.”<\/p>\n
“Ah,” I said. “Of course.”<\/p>\n
“Yeah, of course it does.”<\/p>\n
Except I don’t think it actually does… Oh well.<\/p>\n
