Two unrelated plot lines\u00a0came together this past week, and it felt so good I just had to share.<\/p>\n
The first is that I’m forcing my oldest son to read\u00a0Dune. I know, I know. I’m a horrible tyrant of a dad, but let’s face it, Dune should be required reading for all\u00a0teenagers.<\/p>\n
The second is that\u00a0I picked up The Sting in the bargain bin at Target the other day. The boys and I watched it last Tuesday, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Movie-wise, it’s tough to beat watching\u00a0Redford and Newman doing their thing.<\/p>\n
The next day, my oldest son texted me: “The\u00a0Fremen: Paul Newman’s favorite people.”<\/p>\n
A\u00a0single text\u00a0encompassing references to both Dune and The Sting? Perfect.<\/p>\n
In case you’re wondering about the connection, remember the color of Paul Newman’s eyes. If that doesn’t do it for you, better go get a copy of Dune. It looks like you have some reading to do!<\/p>\n
