One of the common topics of debate among 3 and 4 years olds is what they want to be when they grow up. Some want to be firemen, others astronauts, and so forth. I have stayed out of this particular discussion because I’m not sure I’m ready to hear the answer yet. After all, it might have something to do with the color pink<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Also, my fondest ambition when I was a little tyke was to be a hobo. I wanted to ride the rails and see the country, just me and my dog. I’m not sure how I would take to hearing that sort of thing from my child.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, some things are inevitable. We were sitting at dinner one day when J brought it up with the boys. She was talking about one of their friends, saying “Mikey wants to be an astronaut when he grows up, doesn’t he?”<\/p>\n

“Yep!” N said.<\/p>\n

“Not me, ” said C.<\/p>\n

“No?” I asked, dreading the next line.<\/p>\n

“Nope. When I grow up, I want to be a daddy!”<\/p>\n

Awwww… Now doesn’t that just bring a tear to your eye?<\/p>\n
