The end-of-season celebration involved snacks and sweets and awards.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the awards for the top three climbers, each participant received a &#8220;participation&#8221; certificate, and an award unique to them.<\/p>\n<p>The unique awards were a nice touch that the kids really enjoyed, and my youngest son&#8217;s was my favorite of them all: an award for having the craziest helmet hair.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Because every time you take off your helmet, your hair is always crazy,&#8221; the coach said.<\/p>\n<p>My son looked at the printed certificate. It had his name, followed by the title &#8220;Best Helmet Hair.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He started to giggle. &#8220;Well,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I can&#8217;t argue with that!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>True.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kids get a lot of awards these days, some earned, some not.
