Some nights, C has nightmares. He calls them \u201cmean dreams\u201d, and they are quite traumatizing for him. Around 4:00 this morning, C came running into our room. He had apparently had a mean dream about pirates, and he wanted to sleep with us.<\/p>\n
Breaking from our standard policy, we decided to allow it. While J went to check on his little brother to make sure he hadn\u2019t been awakened, C climbed into bed.<\/p>\n
After tucking him in, I rolled over, saying \u201cGoodnight, big guy\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cGood night big guy,\u201d he replied. Then, after a pause, \u201cYou\u2019re a big guy too!\u201d<\/p>\n
Yup. I\u2019m a big guy too.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I\u2019m a little guy. I\u2019m a big guy and a little guy. I\u2019m both.\u201d<\/p>\n
Uh-huh.<\/p>\n
\u201cMomma\u2019s not a big guy, though.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nope.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s a little lady.\u201d<\/p>\n
That\u2019s right. A little lady.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd a big lady too! She\u2019s both.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hmm\u2026 You might not want to share that with her.<\/p>\n
\u201cOh, okay.\u201d<\/p>\n
J returned and climbed into bed, and the three of us had about 3 minutes of quiet before he couldn\u2019t contain himself any more.<\/p>\n
